Gain, qu'on escrit aussi Gaing, m. Signifie en premier lieu acquest et proufit fait de quelque chose que ce soit, comme Gain de marchandise, de jeu, d'escriture, Quaestus, lucrum, compendium, l'Italien dit, Guadagno, et l'Espagnol Ganancia, Il se prent aussi pour le proufit qui vient de la terre par semence, et en ceste signification est mis en pluriel Gains, qui equipolle à ce mot Gaignages, et comprend toutes sortes de grains, pois, febves, vece, jarrousses et semblables tenants encore par les racines.
Grand gain et proufitable, Bonum lucrum.
